Habitat for Humanity International
"There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your brothers and toward the poor and needy in your land."
Deuteronomy 15:11
Being active in our Faith, we strive to promote the well-being of those in need in our community. Serving others and giving to the needy are ways we give back to the community and shine our light before men....
We have 3 main Philanthropies:
Habitat for Humanity is a non-denominational Christian housing organization. It is open to all people who want to build simple, decent, affordable, houses in partnership with those in need of adequate shelter. Since 1976, Habitat has built more than 100,000 houses in more than 80 countries, including some 30,000 houses across the United States. Habitat houses are purchased by the homeowner families. Three factors make Habitat houses affordable to low-income people worldwide:
1. Houses are sold at no profit, with no interest charged on the mortgage.
2. Homeowners and volunteers build the houses under trained supervision.
3. Individuals, corporations, faith groups and others provide financial support.
Habitat for Humanity's work is organized at the local level by more than 1,900 affiliates worldwide. Affiliates coordinate house building and select partner families. Homeowner families are chosen according to their need; their ability to repay the no-profit, no-interest mortgage; and their willingness to work in partnership with Habitat. Habitat for Humanity does not discriminate according to race, religion or ethnic group.
Several times a semester, brothers will work with Habitat for Humanity to complete work that is needed in order for a family to move into a completed home. It is tough, but rewarding work.

National Multiple Sclerosis Society
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society goal is to end the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis. Multiple sclerosis is a chronic, often disabling disease of the central nervous system. Symptoms may be mild such as numbness in the limbs or severe—paralysis or loss of vision. Other symptoms include fatigue, tingling, numbness, painful sensations, blurred or double vision, muscle weakness, impaired balance, splasticity, tremor, changes in bladder, bowel, and sexual function, cognitive changes such as forgetfulness or difficulty concentrating, speech and swallowing problems, and mood swings. It is a truly devastating disease. Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 40 but the unpredictable physical and emotional effects can be life-long. The progress, severity and specific symptoms of MS in any one person cannot yet be predicted, but advances in research and treatment are giving hope to those affected by the disease. The brothers of the Beta Zeta Chapter of the Theta Xi Fraternity help the National Multiple Sclerosis Society by participating in their annual events. If you are interested in donating with our team please contact our philanthropy chair. He will contact you with more information. Even a penny will help!!! Please help us stop this terrible disease.
